Registration

Registration for Midnattsloppet is done through our registration portal. There, you can choose which race you want to participate in.

You can register individually, register multiple people at once, or purchase a value code.

Individual Registration
When you register, you will make the following choices:

1. Which start group you want to run in – choose your starting group based on the time you expect to finish the race.
2. The size of your race shirt – participation in the race requires wearing the race t-shirt.
3. In which Stadium store you want to pick up your race kit* – Since the choice of pickup locations is limited, the earlier you register, the more stores you can choose from.
4. When registering, you can also choose to purchase: Medal, Diploma, Cancellation Insurance, Home delivery and Shower (Stockholm only).

*The race kit consists of: the race shirt, a timing chip and a start group wristband.

Yes, you can register and pay for multiple participants at the same time.

Here’s how to do it:
After filling in all your details and before confirming your booking, click on “Add a new registration.” Then, fill in the details for the person you want to register before confirming and paying for all registrations at once.

The people you register do not need to participate in the same race. In other words, you can mix: Midnattsloppet, Lilla Midnattsloppet, Mini Midnattsloppet, and Glada Midnattsloppet in the same registration session.

Please note: When you register multiple people at the same time, the confirmation email will only be sent to the first person in the registration. However, all the people you have registered will receive their own start certificate 7–10 days before the race to their email just like usual.

You can purchase voucher via our voucher shops. You can find them here: Stockholm, Malmö, Helsinki, Göteborg.
Choose a race and then “buy voucher” in the menu.

Once your purchase is paid and completed, the voucher will be sent to your email along with the registration confirmation and a link to a downloadable PDF with the value code on it. You can then print the voucher and give it as a gift or keep it for yourself.

Please note that purchasing a voucher does not in itself constitute registration for the race. Only when the recipient has registered using the voucher is the registration for the race complete. The earlier the registration is made, the more options there are to choose from regarding starting groups and kit pickup store.

– You can participate in the Midnattsloppet 10 km and 5 km from the year you turn 14 years old.
– Together with an adult, you can participate in the 5 km race from the year you turn 12 years old.
– Youth under 16 years old are not allowed to participate in the competitive class (nor through seeding)
-You are allowed to participate in the 21 km race from the year you turn 17, based on the regulations of the Swedish Athletics Federation.

A registration is recorded directly in the system, but it may take up to 3 days before your name appears on the start list.

*If money has been deducted from your account but you are not listed on the start list 3 days after registration, please contact Midnattsloppet customer service at: kundservice@midnattsloppet.com. Please attach the confirmation or receipt you received at the time of registration.

No, it is not possible to switch between the different Midnattslopp (Stockholm, Malmö, Helsinki, Göteborg, Digital). The reason for this is that there are different organizers for the different races and therefore different recipients of the registration fee.

Yes, but under certain conditions. It depends on whether you have chosen to pick up your race kit at one of our *live stores or at one of our *packaging stores.

  •  *Live stores allow changes within and between these stores until the distribution of race kits begins. The dates for this are seen below after the store names. Please note that it is not possible to switch from a live store to a packaging store or home delivery.
  •  *Packaging stores: No changes are possible after June 9. The reason for this is that we start packing and dispatching to these stores at the end of June.

Stockholm – Live Stores: Stadium Ringen, Gallerian and Drottninggatan. August 10 is the last date for change/transfer.

Malmö – Live Store: Stadium Södergatan. August 24 is the last date for change/transfer.

Göteborg – Live Store: Stadium Fredsgatan. August 31 is the last date for change/transfer.

Helsinki – Live Store: Stadium Forum. September 7 is the last date for change/transfer.

No, unfortunately it is not possible to cancel a purchased entry unless you have added a cancellation protection*.

If you have purchased cancellation protection, we will refund the entry fee upon presentation of a valid medical certificate from a doctor or other healthcare provider. Please send the certificate to kundservice@midnattsloppet.com no later than one week after the race. The protection applies if illness or injury occurs before the start of the race.

*The cancellation protection costs SEK 125 and becomes valid once your registration has been paid. It expires when the event has started.

The following is included in the registration fee:
– 10 km or 5 km running with a festive carnival atmosphere.
– Participant t-shirt from Björn Borg.
– Timing with live results and interactive map.
– Water and sports drink along the course and at the finish line.
– After race products at the finish line.
– Clothing drop-off at the Runners Corner.

You can also purchase:
– Medal (55 SEK)
– Diploma (85 SEK)

The deadline for registration is the day when the event takes place, provided that there are still available spots.

For those aspiring to be at the front (1A, 1B, 1C), we require seeding based on previous results. The result must be from within the past 3 years and demonstrate that you can achieve the expected running time:

1A Men: 35:59 – Women: 39:59
1B 39:59
1C 44:59
2 49:59 (Only Stockholm)

You provide a link to your result when registering. You can also update your registration and improve your seeding until June 16th by emailing your result to customer service at kundservice@midnattsloppet.com. Runners in start group 1A are allowed to compete in their club uniforms.

When you sign up for the Midnattsloppet 10 km, you also choose a start group.

Choose a start group according to the time interval you believe you can complete the mile within. The flow of runners will then be better along the course. Please note that you run a high risk of being without a result if you start in a different start group than the one you signed up for. The start groups fill up quickly so first come, first served!

If you have selected one of our staffed live stores (Stockholm: Stadium Ringen, Gallerian, Drottninggatan) (Malmö: Stadium Södergatan) (Helsinki: Stadium Forum) (Göteborg: Stadium RUN Nordstan), it is possible to change the distance as long as there is availability before you pick up your race packet in the store. If you have chosen any other store than the ones mentioned above, you can change the category until June 9th.

Changing from 10 km to 5 km is free of charge, please note that we do not give a refund for the difference if the registration fees vary.
For changes from 5 km to 10 km, there is an additional fee of 100 SEK.

You can change distance yourself through a link in your registration confirmation where it says “Click here for class change.” Click on the link and then follow the instructions.

Applies only to Midnattsloppet Stockholm:
Changing from 21 km to 10 km is free of charge, please note that we do not give a refund for the difference if the registration fees vary.
For changes from 10 km to 21 km, there is an additional fee of 100 SEK.

A common piece of feedback we receive is that the course often feels too crowded. We believe a contributing factor is that many runners choose a starting group that’s faster than their actual ability. When we compare the number of runners in each start group who achieve the expected time, we see that this creates bottlenecks along the course.

This year, we’re making two changes to improve the flow:

  • Start Group 2 will become a seeding group in Stockholm, meaning you’ll need to provide proof that you can run the expected time. (Read more about start groups startgroups.)
  • A new message in the registration process encourages everyone to choose a start group that matches their actual ability.

No, you may not. This is because our main sponsors hold the rights to the printing on the shirt.

Midnattsloppet introduces another option.
For those who do not define themselves as male or female, there is now the possibility to choose “Univeral” when selecting gender.

What does this mean in concrete terms?
We will present you in a separate results list.

Will there be any competition classes?
No. Here it is all about the recreational class. Everyone participates, no award ceremony.

What happens in the team competition?
Women’s competition: Four women

Mixed: At least two women (3 women 1 man, 2 women 2 universal, 2 women, 1 universal, 1 man)

The rest automatically inlcuded in the Men’s competition (3 men 1 woman, 2 men 2 universal, 1 woman 3 universal).

 

To train or run in a Björn Borg T-Shirt is to make the workout or race more comfortable, even when it’s tough.

The material in recycled polyester and elastane is thin, soft, and stretchy. To give you greater freedom of movement, the sleeves are placed slightly higher and there is extra material under the arms. The waist is slightly longer at the back to provide better coverage even during movements above the head.

A large part of the materials in Björn Borg’s products are recycled.

Björn Borg’s t-shirt consists of recycled polyester and recycled polyamide. Recycled polyamide is made from plastics from industrial waste and plastics from the oceans, such as fishing nets and plastic mats.

Recycled polyester is mainly made from PET bottles and industrial waste.

Less water and less energy are used in production. It also generates up to 30% less carbon dioxide emissions compared to new polyester.

All of Björn Borg’s recycled yarn comes from manufacturers holding a Global Recycle Standard certificate. It is an independent third-party certification of recycled materials that assesses traceability, social and environmental issues, and chemical restrictions

21 km

The first start group in the 21 km category starts at 21:15. The following start groups will be sent off at 5-minute intervals.

The 21 km group will start first of all and you will run alone along the 10 km track until 6.8 km where you join the 5 km runners and run together with them until 9.8 km where you turn left onto Timmermansgatan then you run alone until you get up on Ringvägen.

To participate in Midnattsloppet 21 km, you need to have the capacity to complete the distance in no more than 2 hours and 20 minutes. This is to ensure that the flow of runners along the course runs as smoothly as possible. Please note that Midnattsloppet course is relatively hilly.

You must arrive at Timmermansgatan by 23:07. If you arrive after that time, you will instead have to run straight into the finish line after 10 km.

To get the logistics and flow along the current track, we need to limit how long you can be out running. This year, we have set that time to 2 hours and 20 minutes.

After 9.8 km, take a left onto Timmermansgatan. About 120 meters before the intersection, you will be met by signs that guide you in the right direction. 6 signs with 20 meters between them with space to change lanes between the signs.

We have an additional fluid station for those of you running the half marathon. Water, sports drink, and toilets will be available here.

21 km is a pure exercise distance with no prizes, but of course you will be recorded in the history books.

The maximum number of participants is set to 1 000 runners for Midnattsloppet 21 km.

Before the race

No, you can only pick up your starter kit at the selected Stadium store. If you are unable to pick it up yourself, someone else can do it for you. Remember that the person picking it up must bring your proof of registration.

Yes, you can do that. You can pick up your start kit during the selected Stadium store’s regular opening hours.

Yes, that’s fine! Please note that the person picking up your shirt needs to bring your start certificate.

Yes, that’s OK.  The person picking up your start kit just needs to show your start certificate at Stadium.

No, unfortunately it is not possible to cancel a purchased entry unless you have added a cancellation protection*.

Your start certificate will be sent about 7–10 days before the race to the email address you provided during registration. Sometimes the start certificate may end up in the junk folder, so please check there if you haven’t received it in your inbox. If it’s not there either, you can email us at: kundservice@midnattsloppet.com and we will send a new one.

If you register less than 7 days before the race, the starting permits will be sent out continuously. Within a day after registering, the starting permit should have appeared in the email address you provided during registration.

 

There will be toilets at: water station 1, water station 2 as well as at start and finish.

All participants registered for Midnattsloppet must pick up their race kit at the Stadium store they selected during registration. This does not apply to those who have chosen home delivery of the race kit or those starting in start group 1A.

Distribution begins a few days before race day, with exact days varying between races. In Stockholm, distribution starts on Monday, while in Malmö, Helsinki, and Göteborg it begins on Wednesday. All distributions occur during the Stadium store’s regular opening hours.

The start certificate for the Midnattsloppet will be sent approximately 7–10 days before the race day to the email address you provided during registration.

Sometimes the start certificate may end up in your spam folder. Please check there before contacting customer service kundservice@midnattsloppet.com

If you have lost something from your race kit (for example your timing chip or start group wristband), please visit the information tent at Runner’s Corner on race day, where replacements will be available for purchase.

During the race

Sorry, unfortunately, you can’t do that.

No, you are not allowed to do that.

Medical care and first aid is available at the start, finish and along the course.

For your safety, we ask you to write your name, social security number, and ICE (number for next of kin) on your start group wristband.

If you or another runner is in need of medical care during the race, please notify the nearest course official (with a yellow or orange vest). In case of emergency, it is important to quickly contact an ambulance by calling 112. Seek assistance from officials, fellow runners, or spectators if needed.

Digital Midnight Run: How to follow runners in the app.

  1. First, you can follow the leaders during the race through the “Leaderboard“.
  2. Through “My favorites“, you can add the friends you want to follow and see where they are on the track.
  3. Under “My Race“, if you are running the race, you can use the GPS on your smartphone to share your position with others who can also follow the race.

If during the race you feel that faster runners are catching up, keep to the right so they can pass on the left side.

Welcome to participate in the Midnattsloppet masquerade – the most fun experience of the race!

To participate in the masquerade competition, you need to present yourself to the judges and be photographed in the masquerade tent between 6:30 pm and 8:10 pm on the day of the race. Look for a red tent next to the information.

Schedule:
6:30 pm – 8:10 pm Registration and photo in the masquerade tent
8:15 pm Gathering in front of the Stage.
8:30 pm Award ceremony. (Prize for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place)

Masquerade groups are popular and fill up quickly so make sure to be there early.

Your time is taken with the help of a chip that you attach to your shoelace. Timing starts only when you pass the mat at the starting line so there is no need to rush at the beginning. You will then receive split times at kilometers: 1, 5, and 9. When you cross the finish line, the time stops and you have your result. All results are automatically published on the website shortly after finishing (usually within a few seconds).

There will be toilets at: water station 1, water station 2 as well as at start and finish.

Along the 10 km course, there are two water stations, one of which also serves as a water station for the 5 km race. Here, water and sports drink are served. The placement along the course varies slightly depending on which city you are running in.

Before the start, there is an opportunity to refill water at Runner’s Corner. You will also receive fluids after crossing the finish line.

Applies to Stockholm only: We have an extra water station for those running the 21 km. Water, sports drinks, and toilets will be available there.

The police have lifted the bag ban at large events, which means there is no longer a bag ban during Midnattsloppet.
If you still wish to leave your bag, you can do so at our bag and clothing drop-off at Globala Gymnasiet.

To help manage the flow of people at Runners Corner (Zinkensdamms IP), we have designated entry and exit points.

  • Entry and exit take place through the main entrance (Ringvägen 16).
  • Exit only is available through the south entrance (Ringvägen 18) and the southern gate toward Zinkens Väg.

After the race

Those of you who complete your 5th Midnattslopp will receive an anniversary diploma sent to your home a few weeks after the race. We offer the diploma as a thank you for being an important part of the Midnattslopp celebration for five years!

The diploma is automatically sent to all those who have completed 5 Midnattslopp races. You do not need to register anywhere.

Are you one of those who have added color to Midnattsloppet for many years? Then we want to celebrate you with a prize at this year’s race in Stockholm.

If you have run 10, 15, or 20 races, you will receive an anniversary medal.
If you have achieved an even greater feat and participated in 25, 30, 35, or 40 races, you will receive a prize in art glass.

Collect your prize
You can collect your prize directly after crossing the finish line inside the “Runner’s Corner” in the information tent (Zinkensdamms IP). We would like to acknowledge the jubilarians, so be prepared for one of our speakers to possibly interview you.

If you want a nice memory from the race, you can buy a diploma as an additional product when registering. You will receive a nice diploma with a drawing of the Midnight Run motif with your name and finishing time. The diploma costs 85 SEK and will be sent a few weeks after the race.

You can also purchase a diploma after completing your registration. Contact our customer service at kundservice@midnattsloppet.com and they will assist you.

The medal costs SEK 55 and can be added when registering for the race. If stock allows, you can also purchase the medal when collecting your race shirt in our live stores or at the information tent after the finish. After the race, you can contact kundservice@midnattsloppet.com with any questions.

To reduce environmental impact and avoid discarding unused medals, since 2022 we have made the medal optional for those who truly want one. Starting in 2023, we have also added a ribbon, and the medal is now made of wood to help conserve natural resources.

After crossing the finish line, you’ll receive the following:

  • Your time is immediately uploaded to the official results list.
  • On-site staff will assist those feeling especially tired.
  • A refreshing drink from Vitamin Well awaits you a bit further ahead.
  • If you ordered a medal, it will be placed around your neck.
  • A bar from Be-Kind (Note: contains nuts).
  • A banana from Chiquita.
  • Water will be available for those who want it.

 

Other

Midnattsloppet brings a festive atmosphere with music, lighting, and strobe effects at the start, finish, and several points along the course.

If you have epilepsy or are sensitive to bright lights and loud sounds, it’s good to be aware of this in advance – please take it into consideration before running or spending time along the course during the event.
