On this page you will find all the information you need before Midnattsloppet 2019 with info about distribution of start kits, start certificates and frequently asked questions.

Pick up your start kit

Everyone who’s signed up to Midnattsloppet has to pick up their start kit in the Stadium store they chose during the registration to the race. The distribution of the start kits in Stadium stores will happen during the week before the race. The exact dates and stores for each city can be seen below. 

Pick up your start kit with your start certificate

The start certificates to Midnattsloppet will be sent before the race to the email address you gave while registering to the race. Bring the start certificate with you either printed or by showing it on your phone. If you haven’t received your start certificate it’s also possible to pick up your start kit with identification.

Can someone else pick up my start kit?

Yes! The person who picks up your start kit should have your start certificate with them to the pick-up store. 

Distribution of start kits – dates and locations

The distribution of the start kits in Stadium stores will happen during the week before the race. The exact dates varies in the different cities. Check the dates below for the respective races. 

Please note that some stores have restricted capacity for distribution of start kits and might be fully booked.  

These stores are available to choose up until the 30th of June. After this date only stores in bold type are available.

Startkit

In your start kit you will get a race shirt from adidas, a wristband and a timing chip.

Race shirt

In Midnattsloppet we don’t use bibs, instead all participants get a race shirt from adidas. To participate in the race there is a requirement that you run in the official race shirt.

The participants in the masquerade also get a race shirt, but do not have to wear it during the race. Runners in start group 1A may compete in their club uniform, but will however also receive the race shirt from adidas like everybody else. 

You choose the size of your race shirt during the registration to the race.  

The colour of this years race shirt will be announced on the 1st of August. 

Timing chip

To get a result in the race it is important that you tie the timing chip to the laces of your running shoe. It doesn’t matter on which foot the chip is fasten. 

Dont fasten the chip on your wrist or keep it in your pocket. In this case the signal from the timing mat will not be able to register the chip, and you will not get a result from the race.

The timing starts when you cross the timing mat at the start line, so there is no need to hurry during the start. 

The timing chip is a disposable chip and doesn’t have to be returned after the race. Please recycle it among plastic waste or keep it as a memory.   

Wristband

To get access to your start group you need to wear the wristband where your start group is indicated. For your safety we ask you to fill in your name, social security number and ICE(number to a relative) on your wristband.

  • Age limit

    Midnattsloppet 10K and 5K is open for runners from the year when you turn 14. To be able to participate in Midnattsloppet 2019 you have to be born 2005 or earlier.

    Together with an adult you can run in the 5K race from the year you turn 12. 

    Participants under the age of 16 are not able to run in the elite start group 1A.

Registration

  • Changes to my registration?

    If you’ve chosen another pick-up store for your start kit than our manned stores you are not able to make any changes to your registration after the 30th of June. 
     
     
    This means you will not be able to change to another pick-up store, change the size of the race shirt, change start groups or transfer your registration to someone else. The reason for this is that we’re prepacking start kits to all other stores than the manned stores starting on the 1st of July.

  • How to register for the race

    A registration to Midnattsloppet is done in our registration portal, where you first choose which race you want to enter. You can do a personal registration, register several runners at the same time or buy a gift card.

    Personal registration

    When registering you will make the following choices: 

    1. What start group you want to run in – Choose your start group based on your estimated finishing time in the 10K race. The 5K race has its own start group.

    2. The size of your adidas race shirt –  To participate in the race there is a requirement that you run in the official race shirt.

    3. In what Stadium store you want to pick up your start kit  –  The options to chose different stores for the pick up location of your start kit are limited. Therefore you have more alternatives the earlier you register for the race. The start kit include your race shirt, a timing chip and a wristband.

    Register several runners at the same time

    When you’ve filled in your registration information, and before confirming the registration, you can click on “Add a new entry”. Then you can proceed to fill in the information for the next runner. This process can repeated the desired amount of times. When all registration as filled you can proceed to pay all the regstrations at the same time. 

    Buying a gift card

    There are two ways to buy a gift card:

    1. When registering yourself to the race

    When you register you can add gift cards as an extra product.

    2. Without making an own registration to the race

    If you only want to buy a gift card you’ll first choose what race you want to buy the gift card for. You can then choose “Purchase a gift card” in the registration portal.

    The gift cards are sent to your email together with the confirmation when your purchase has been payed. The recipient of the gift card can register themselves to the race, bypassing the payment with a voucher code on the gift card.

    A bought gift card is not the same as a registration to the race. The recipient has to register to the race with the registration code on the gift card. The earlier this registration is done, the more alternatives for start groups and pick-up stores for the start kit are available.  

     

  • Is my registration registered?

    A registration is immediately registered in the system. The day after your registration you should be able to find your registration in the participant list.

    If money has been withdrawn from your account, but you are not able to find yourself in the participant list, we ask you to contact our Customer Service on info@midnattsloppet.com. Kindly attach your confirmation or receipt you got while registering to the race. 

  • Search the participant list

    A registration is immediately registered in the system. The day after your registration you should be able to find your registration in the participant list.

  • When is the last day to register?

    It’s difficult to say, it depends on if and when the race gets sold out. The last years it has been possible to register for the race on the last week before the event, in all cities. However that late it is usually places in the last start groups that are available. The earlier you register, the better the chances that you get to run in the start group you wish to run in.  

  • When will the start certificates be sent?

    The start certificates to Midnattsloppet will be sent approx. 8-10 days before the race to the email address you gave while registering to the race. 

Choosing your start group

  • How to choose your start group

    It´s important that you are realistic when choosing your start group based on your predicted finishing time. The aim is that runners in a start group are running the race in a pace as close to each other as possible. This will make the flow of the race, and the running experience, better for all participants. 

    If your expected finishing time, for example, in  the 10K  race is 53 minutes, you should choose starting group 3. 

    Below are the start groups and expected finishing times listed. 

    – 1A. Men – 35.59 min, Women – 39.59 min (seeding required)

    – 1B. 36.00 – 39.59 min (seeding required)

    – 1C. 40.00 – 44.59 min (seeding required)

    – 2.  45.00 – 49.59 min

    – 3.  50.00 – 54.59 min

    – 4.  55.00 – 59.59 min

    – 5.  60.00 – 64.59 min

    – 6.  65.00 – 69.59 min

    – 7.  70.00 – 85.00 min

    The 5K start group will start approx. 10 minutes after the last start of the 10K race.

    If you want to register for the star groups 1A, 1B or 1C seeding is required. 

     

    The different Midnattsloppet races have varied numbers of start groups in each category.  Availability may be limited based on the number of participants already registered to a certain start group. The available start groups in a specific race will be visible during the registration.

  • Seeding

    In order to register to one of our fastest starting groups, i.e. 1A, 1B or 1C, you need to present a previous result qualifying you for participation in these groups. 

    The rules for seeding in Midnattsloppet:

    • The result has to be from a competition with official time keeping. You need to send a link to your result while registering for the race.
    • We do not seed participants based on results from other sports besides running, e.g. cycling or skiing.
    • The result can´t be older than from 2017

    Runners in start group 1A may compete in their club uniform, but will however also receive the race shirt from adidas like everybody else. The start kit is to be picked up at the Info tent at Runners Corner on the evening of the race from 18:30 onward.

Changes to the registration

  • Can I make changes to my registration?

    There are limitations to the possibility to make changes to your registration concerning e.g. your start group, the size of your race shirt and what Stadium shirt you will pick up your start kit. 
     
    Especially after the 30th of June the options for changes are more limited. You can enquire about the possibility to make a change to your registration by contacting our customer service on info@midnattsloppet.com
     
  • Can I transfer my registration to another race?

    It is not possible to transfer your registration between the different Midnattsloppet races. The reason is that the different races have different local organisers and therefore different recipients of the registration fee. 

  • Can I transfer my registration to someone else?

    Yes, but after the 30th of June it is only possible to transfer your registration to someone else if you’ve chosen to pick up your start kit from one of our manned stores. The manned stores are marked with bold type under the respective races

    If you’ve chosen a manned store the last day to transfer the registration is: 
    Stockholm – 12th of August
    Göteborg – 21st of August
    Helsingfors – 28th of August
    Malmö – 4th of September
     

    Transfer of the registration  costs 100 SEK.

  • Cancellation, refunds?

    It is not possible to cancel your registration to the race. A paid registration is definitive and registration fees are not refunded.  

    Cancellation protection

    There is an exception, and that is if you have bought a cancellation protection. The cancellation protection costs 80 SEK and is valid in case of illness or injury. The protection is valid from the moment of purchase up until the start of the race. 

    If you have a valid cancellation protection you can send us a doctors certificate of your illness or injury to claim your refund of the registration fee. Send the certificate by mail to Midnattsloppet Nordic AB, Enskedevägen 95, 122 63 Enskede or by email to info@midnattsloppet.com. You can send us the certificate up to one week after the race.

    Transfer of the registration to someone else

    Before the race it’s also possible to transfer your registration to someone else. There are however restrictions in place closer to the race. 

Before the race

  • Can someone else pick up my start kit?

    Yes! The person who picks up your start kit should have your start certificate with them to the pick-up store. 

  • I can’t make it to a Stadium store, can I pick up my start kit elsewhere?

    No, distribution of start kits is done exclusively in Stadium stores. There is no possibility to pick up your start kit at the Info tent on Runners Corner. 

    If you can’t make it, it’s possible for someone else to pick up your start kit on your behalf. 

  • I haven’t received my start certificate

    The start certificate for Midnattsloppet is sent approx. 8-10 days before the race. Your start certificate is sent to the email address you gave while registering for the race. If you can’t find it in your inbox it could have ended up in the junk mail. If your picking up your start kit yourself you can also do it with identification, without your start certificate. 

    If someone else is picking up your start kit this person will have to have your start certificate with them. In this case you can contact our Customer Service on info@midnattsloppet.com to get your start certificate. 

  • Something is missing in my start kit

    If something from your start kit is missing or has been lost, e.g. a timing chip or wristband, you can visit the Info tent at Runners Corner on the evening of the race from 18:30 onward. 

During the race

  • Clothes storage

    You will find the clothes storage in the vicinity of Runners Corner. The clothes storage opens at  8:00pm, is free of charge to use and you can also store bags in the storage. Midnattsloppet is not liable for valuables left in the clothes storage and there are no lockable lockers. 

    Stockholm: Globala Gymnasiet, Hornsgatan 93 (entrance through Hornskroken)

    Göteborg: Ullevi, lower stand with entrance through the infield

    Helsingfors: Porthania, Yliopistonkatu 3 

    Malmö: Tent next to the “kiosk” on Stortorget

     

     

  • Energy Zones

    There are two energy zones in the 10K race. One of these will also act as the energy zone in the 5K race. Depending on in which city you are running the placements of the Energy Zones vary a bit. The exact placements can be seen on the route map. 

    There is also an Energy Zone at the finish and there is a possibility to fill your water bottle on Runners Corner before the start.

     

  • First aid

    There will be first aid personnel at the start and finish and also along the route for your safety.

    For your safety we ask you to fill in your name, social security number and ICE(number to a relative) on your wristband. 

    If you or, any other runner, is in need of first aid during the race you can alert the closest route official (yellow or orange safety vest) about this. 

    In serious cases it’s important to get help as soon as possible. The right course of action is to immediately call the emergency number 112. Ask for help from an official, another runner or a spectator. 

  • Keep right

    If you feel that other runners are running faster than you and that you’re being overtaken a lot, you should keep to the right side of the track. By keeping right you give the faster runners the possibility to pass you safely on the left.

  • Max time

    There is a max time in the race. This is due to timing restrictions in the permit to close off streets for the race. 

    The max time is 9 min/km. The max time for the 10K race is 90 minutes and for the 5K race the max time is 45 minutes. 

    The max time specifies how much time you have to reach the finish line if you start in starting group 7A. For every earlier start group you get 5 min more time to get to the finish in time. There are two check points along the route that you have to reach in time to be able to continue the race.  

    Depending on which city and race you’re running in, the locations of the check points and the times varies. Information about times and check points is available on the route map. 

  • Runners Corner

    Here you will find our services for participants including toilets, clothes storage and the Info tent. Runners Corner is situated in the vicinity of the start and finish. Read more about Runners Corner.

  • Toilets

    There are toilets in the vicinity of Runners Corner and on both drinking stations along the route.

    The placing of the toilets can be seen on the Runners Corner map.
